Every February, people in the United States celebrate the achievements and history of African Americans as part of Black History Month.
Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.
Today, we celebrate the life and accomplishments of Serena Williams. She is a beacon to many as she dominated the world of professional tennis for decades, making a name for herself in the history books. Serena Williams is a tremendous success and an inspiration.

LCPS parents,
Our bus partner, STS of New Mexico, has been receiving updates on a construction project along Main Street that could delay bus service for students.
From now until October 2024, portions of Main between Elks and Solano could experience temporary closures, lane restrictions and traffic congestion. We understand that construction will pose challenges to our daily routines, and we ask for your patience as STS of New Mexico works to ensure everyone's safety while looking into adjusting bus routes.
Thank you in advance,
Las Cruces Public Schools

Today was a special day for students and staff from Columbia Elementary as they celebrated the groundbreaking for construction of their new school building. On this day, we turn the soil, and do so with a profound sense of appreciation for the collaboration of many who had a shared vision for a brighter future for the school community.

We are excited to welcome Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine as an LCPS partner. Student doctors will be an asset to our Community Outreach, Migrant, McKinney-Vento, and Community Schools teams in our mission to support students, families, and community. #Adelante
