The following agencies participated in Columbia Elementary’s Red Ribbon
celebration. The Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office brought their bomb
squad vehicle and robots. Homeland Security also participated and
brought their robot and other equipment they use to
keep us safe. DEA gave our students a presentation on the dangers of
substance use. The NM Border Patrol K-9 unit taught the students about
their job and gave a demonstration of how their K-9 works and does her
job. The NM Army National guard brought their
helicopter and gave our students a tour of it. The NM National Guard
also brought their gauntlet and the students were able to challenge each
other on the course. Las Cruces Police Department sent out several
officers and their units to show our students and
teach them about safety and the importance of their roll in our
community. A big thank you to all our guests and for making the end of
Red Ribbon Week such a success.
