Mayfield Commencement Postponed - Severe weather expected, ceremony pushed to Sunday
Severe thunderstorms developing Saturday afternoon near the Field of Dreams have prompted administrators with Las Cruces Public Schools to postpone commencement exercises for Mayfield High School’s Class of 2023.
The ceremony has been rescheduled to Sunday morning at 9 a.m. at the Field of Dreams. District officials have been monitoring the weather the last few days with the assistance of the National Weather Service in Santa Teresa. Storms originally were expected to pass through but developed quickly, prompting swift action.
“We understand this is a tremendous inconvenience for graduates and families, but the safety of everyone at the stadium is of paramount importance,” said Deputy Superintendent of Operations for LCPS, Gabe Jaquez.

Las Cruces Public Schools will be hosting a STEM Innovation Camp for incoming 6th graders from June 12-15. The STEM camp is in partnership with Asombro Institute for Science, Cruces Creatives, The Museum of Nature and Science, and NMSU.
Students will receive STEM activities to take home, attend a field trip to the newly completed Organ Mountain High School Planetarium, visit multiple departments at NMSU, and more!

Columbia 5th graders had a great time at this year's LCPS elementary track meet. Our special May the 4th shirts were designed by our former Colombian and looked awesome!
Tomorrow, Friday, May 5th is our 3rd-4th-5th grade VIP pastry event at 7:30 a.m. in the Columbia Cafeteria. Each 3rd-4th-5th grade student is allowed to bring ONE very important person with them for a sweet treat and coffee. This is only for 3rd-4th-5th grade students and their one VIP. All other grades had their event last semester.
